Funding during your PhD!

Unlike the Bachelors/Masters degree where you pay a large sum of money as tuition and also support your personal expenses; during Ph.D. you will have the financial independence as usually when you are admitted to a Ph.D. program you will receive a stipend (around 2000 USD in US, depending on the cost index of your state/city) and your tuition will be paid by the department or the principal investigator!!

Hence, the deal is you get to do quality research, publish papers, teach for a while, learn learn and learn more and yet you pay no tuition and also receive a salary (stipend in the form of Teaching Assistantship, Research Assistantship). Remember, don't even think of accepting an unpaid, zero support Ph.D. admit. This is not the case in good schools as they usually provide complete funding to all Ph.D. students!
